Continuous Improvment

The Department of Continuous Improvement will support our business initiative of better serving our customers by faciliting improvement projects in production, sales, and support areas throughout the company.  The department consists of black belts that utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and the DMAIC process to identify and improve quality, cost, customer satisfaction, process speed, and invested capital.  The department will cultivate a culture in which employees actively participate in continuous improvement activities, accept accountability for projects, and are rewarded for success.  The continuous improvement teams are structured using "Team Oriented Problem Solving" (TOPS) and are supported with black belts that are trained in statistical problem solving.  The key responsibilities of the Department of Continuous Improvement are listed below:

  • Develop the continuous improvement program
  • Coach teams using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Develop and manage the "Project Hopper"
  • Work with business leadership to develop strategy, counsel, lead, and guide all continuous improvement intiatives within the orginization in accordance with the business plan
  • Assign resources, lead, facilitate, and/or personally direct continuous improvement activities and events
  • Insure the plants continuous improvement efforts align with the companies overall model of continuous improvement


Industrial Engineering Department

The Industrial Engineering Department supports Wrayco's lean initiatives through capacity planning, work cell development, developing manpower requirements, and tracking lean metrics.  The department consists of industrial engineers that utilize lean/six sigma tools to maximize the efficiency of our work cells.  The department is responsible for defining the work flow for all of Wrayco's products.  It is the responsibility of this department to partner with production supervisors and managers as well as the Department of Continuous Improvement to help train factory employees on lean principles.  The key responsibilities of the Department of Industrial Engineering are listed below:

  • Focus on capacity planning, work cell efficiency, manpower requirements, and lean metrics
  • Develop integrated industrial systems to streamline manufacturing processes
  • Identify problem areas within the factory to systematically reduce muda
  • Define work flow for all Wrayco product from start to finish
  • Work closely with the Department of Continuous Improvement to help train factory employees on lean principles
